Pre & Post Surgery.
Our team of Physiotherapists can help prepare you for a joint replacement surgery and rehab after you’ve had surgery. We work closely with your orthopaedic surgeon to ensure you are on track to get you back to doing what you love. We often work with the Orthopedic team at Burnaby General Hospital, Royal Columbian Hospital, VGH, UBC Joint Replacement Program and other surrounding specialists.
We suggest you make a physiotherapy appointment approximately 5-7 days after your hip or knee replacement surgery.
Using hydrotherapy, cryotherapy, exercise prescription, LASER, IFC, EMS, IMS and manual therapy we help manage pain and swelling early and give you a safe place to practice activities of daily life and exercise progression. Our 2000 square foot gym allows you to rehab in a safe space with all the equipment you need.

Arthritis: We see both osteoarthritis as well as inflammatory arthritis such as rheumatoid arthritis in our clinic. We work to relieve symptoms, provided graded exercise programs, manage pain and swelling, custom bracing options and the group OA Program GLA:D.
We can see you individually for a physiotherapy treatment plan tailored specifically for you or you can join our GLA:D Osteoarthritis Program.
If you have Rheumatoid or Osteoarthritis - Clinical Pilates can be a great form of rehab as it is gentle on the joints but allows you to strengthen the muscles surrounding the area and your core. Using a Pilates Reformer and Mat Pilates exercises our physio’s can create a program unique to your needs. Mckenzie Summers and Diane Rizzardo both offer Clinical Pilates Physiotherapy appointments.
